Oktoberfest Beer Festival

This “beer festival” originated in 1810 in the German city of Munich. It all began with the wedding anniversary of Prince Ludwig I of Bavaria and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. As expected, the celebration of this event was so successful that it has been continued ever since and, to this day, it has a global reach.

Mexico, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, to mention a few countries, hold this event, which brings together hundreds and, in some cases, thousands of beer lovers.

The Oktoberfest is celebrated in the field known as Theresienwiese (Theresa’s meadow), with the arrival of the Wiesnwirte (owners of the breweries), who are escorted by horse-drawn carriages that carry the beer.

The mayor is the person in charge of tapping the first beer barrel, and it is followed by a parade of traditional costumes. This marks the beginning of consuming liters and liters of beer from breweries such as Paulaner, Spaten, Löwenbräu, Augustiner, Hofbräu, and Hacker-Pschorr. Traditional regional food and live music are also part of the celebration.

But it’s not just about the beer; there are also attractions for all ages, such as the typical amusement rides that characterize the event, accompanied by stages to enjoy polka (a fast-paced partner dance originating from Central Europe and very popular in the XIX century).

Around 6 to 7 million visitors pass through Theresienwiese each year to experience this total party event.
To ensure you live this great experience, on October 6th, we will be celebrating Oktoberfest at Sunset World Group. Come and celebrate with us!
