Little by little Quintana Roo has recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic, and more and more tourists are returning to enjoy Cancun and the Riviera Maya’s beaches, which is great news for Sunset World hotels.

October began with very encouraging tourism figures. According to data from Cancun’s international airport, more than 500 flights have arrived daily carrying 105,000 tourists, despite the fact that it is low season. In addition, according to estimates from the Quintana Roo Strategic Planning of Tourism Promotion Council and Civil Aviation, more than one million tourists have arrived in the Mexican Caribbean during the last 14 months.

This month, new flights will arrive from San Salvador, Bogotá and Sao Paulo, a direct route will arrive from Moscow and, for the first time ever, there will be a direct flight from Amsterdam.

The reactivation of tourism will be further boosted by the arrival of new flights from the United States from Boston, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Baltimore, Detroit and Raleigh-Durham.

In addition, Cozumel will receive direct flights from Denver and Orlando. Chetumal, the state capital, will have a route from Miami starting in December. An increase in Canadian tourism is also expected with Cozumel arrivals from Toronto and Montreal starting in November.

The Mexican Caribbean and Sunset World hotels are recovering and setting an example for reopening for tourism while following all COVID-19 prevention protocols.
