Once again, our beautiful destination crosses borders. On this occasion, it reached the ANATO Tourism Showcase international fair, the most important tourism event in Colombia, which is held every year in the city of Bogotá.

The Mexican Caribbean exhibit showcased the area’s natural beauty and unveiled the wide range of attractions it has to offer. The event was attended by the president of the National Association of Hotels and Motels, the president of the Hotel Association of Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres and the ambassador of Mexico to Colombia. In addition, 25 hoteliers from Cancun participated and the Solidaridad municipality was present at the event to promote Playa del Carmen for the first time.

The head of the Solidaridad City Council Tourism Secretariat commented that, despite being the first time they participated, expectations were exceeded. 41 business appointments that had been requested with travel agencies, tour operators and guides, however in the end they had 137 appointments. This will significantly boost the promotion of Playa del Carmen’s attractions and beauty.

Without a doubt, the Mexican Caribbean has become a preferred destination for Colombian tourists. Data from the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council Tourist Profile shows that in 2021 more than 220,000 Colombians visited, while in 2019 more than 230,000 visited. According to the head of the Solidaridad City Council Tourism Secretariat, 56 flights arrive in Quintana Roo weekly from Bogotá, Cali and Medellín weekly, which puts Colombia in third place for influx of visitors to the Mexican Caribbean.
