The Mexican Caribbean at the World Travel Awards 2020

The beautiful state of Quintana Roo received 49 nominations in the World Travel Awards 2020. These awards have recognized the best in the tourism industry worldwide for more than 20 years.

The World Travel Awards are considered the Oscars of the tourism industry and this year the twenty-seventh edition will take place in October, when awards will be given to the best in Latin America.

Mexico is very proud that its tourism destinations are on the list of nominees. Cancun, Riviera Maya and Tulum were all nominated for Leading Beach Destination.

Cancun was also nominated in other categories, like Leading Business Travel Destination, Leading Meetings and Conference Destination, Leading City Destination and Leading City Break Destination. In the last category it competes with Playa del Carmen.

The islands of the Mexican Caribbean, Holbox, Isla Mujeres and Cozumel, were nominated in the Leading Island Destination category.

In addition to recognizing the best destinations, airports are also awarded, and Cancun was one of the nominees. Hotels also compete. Hacienda Tres Ríos, Sunset World Group’s hotel in the Riviera Maya, was nominated in four categories: Leading Nature Reserve, Leading All-Inclusive Resort, Leading Family Resort and Leading Green Hotel.
