Recently the 45th edition of the Tianguis Turístico was held in Mérida, Yucatán. This is the most important event in the tourism sector and this is the first time that Mérida has hosted it.

The convention was a resounding success, attended by representatives from 43 countries. 3,942 exhibitors participated and there were 598 million pesos in sales during pre-established appointments between exhibitors and buyers.

This forum represents a great opportunity for Mexico to showcase its tourism products and promote itself internationally and nationally as an excellent tourism destination.

The State Tourism Secretariat, the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council and 42 private initiative companies, including hotels, parks and service providers represented the Mexican Caribbean in an incredible 800 m2 pavilion.

Yucatan, the cradle of the Mayan culture and one of the most important civilizations in Mexico, also showed off its many cultural and natural attractions.

A survey conducted after the event showed that the most requested tourist destinations during the tianguis were Cancun with 28%, followed by the Riviera Maya with 18% and the host city Mérida, with 16%.
