Cancún continues to advance toward a more modern, accessible, and efficient public transport system with the addition of new routes for the Quintana Roo Wellbeing Mobility System (MOBI). This strategy, driven by the Government of Quintana Roo, aims to transform how residents and visitors get around.
MOBI is a comprehensive model designed to organize, regulate, and unify public transport by placing people at the heart of the planning process. The system incorporates technology, electronic payment options, real-time vehicle monitoring, and digital tools that allow users to check routes and arrival times, as well as top up their fare cards. In Cancún, one of the initial phases involved launching two routes connecting various parts of the city to the Hotel Zone—the Nichupte Bridge Route 27 and the Km 0 Route 27—which began operations in September. The vehicles are equipped with air conditioning, ramps, wheelchair spaces, tactile flooring, Braille signage, security cameras, and USB ports.
With this expansion, Cancún strengthens connectivity between residential areas, workplaces, schools, commercial districts, and the Hotel Zone, while moving toward a public transport system that is more inclusive, technologically advanced, and aligned with the needs of one of Mexico’s most important tourist cities.
