Glyphic Text Discovered in Cobá

As expected, the construction of the Maya Train has uncovered everything from pottery to complete buildings of the Mayan culture in Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo. In this case, the INAH reported that they recently discovered a panel with a glyphic text carved directly on rock, consisting of 123 cartridges and speaking about the founding of the town of Keh Witz Nal, part of Cobá, in the year 569 AD.

In addition, the name of a sovereign, K’awiil Ch’ak Chéen, has been identified for the first time, which has allowed a gap in the dynastic sequence of Cobá to be filled. It is worth mentioning that this panel is located 160 m from the highest pyramid in Cobá, Nohoch Mul.
