Sunset Royal – A Great Place to Unwind and Relax.
We returned to the Sunset Royal (SR) this past December for 2 weeks again in 2025, but time goes by so fast that our stay never feels long enough. As in the past, it is wonderful to catch up with familiar staff members and to meet new Staff as well. We are always happy and relieved to see that Carlos, the Acuario Restaurant Manager, is still at SR. Thankfully, he remains a constant at SR! Carlos immediately recognized us & welcomed us back home our first night back. He continues to amaze us, remembering our names and sharing wonderful stories and pictures of his growing Family! He is a Very Proud Grandpa! We were fortunate to receive a Master Suite on the 8th floor as Loyal, Long-Standing Members at SR. New to us was the Butler Service and we had 3 Amazing Butlers who took exceptional care of us. Sarah Diaz was our main Contact Person and she was beyond AMAZING! Always greeting us with her genuinely warm smile and her bright and energetic personality, she was always checking on us to ensure we had everything we needed. She would go above and beyond on a regular basis to meet our needs! When she saw my disappointment about the Beverage Room Service no longer offering sugar free seltzers, she even went grocery shopping on her own time to find Diet Sprite and a variety of Seltzers for us since Diet Coke is the only sugar free option available at the SR. Butlers Lupita and Rafael also always greeted us by our names with a warm smile, and was always eager to help in any way. We also loved the newly incorporated ability to text the Butlers by WhatsApp, which made communications very fast and efficient!
Javier continues to be in charge of the Front Lobby and ensured our rides arrived on time and that all our bags are taken care of. Luis B, the Entertainment Director, was a new face amongst the SR Staff Family, who would greet us by name with a friendly smile and positive energy. Luis was very active and involved with the members, always checking how he could make our stay more enjoyable and inviting suggestions for improvement. We would always see him energetically walking around the pool, informing us of activities we might enjoy then later see him in the gym to make sure there were enough towels. He took the time to make sure any needs/preferences were met regarding our Yoga classes, making sure we had a cool and comfortable environment, turning on fans in the theatre on a humid day, and was flexible and even allowed us to hold yoga class out on the old Palapa area overlooking the ocean, moving the sun umbrellas, making sure we had enough shade, etc. Luis does a GREAT JOB and is one of the most conscientious and involved Activities Director I’ve come across in my many years at SR and decades of vacation travel overall.
In the Capriccio Restaurant, please request to sit in Alan’s section. He is very professional, attentive and his quality of service is exceptional.
