Mexican Independence Day is celebrated primarily on September 15 and 16, commemorating the beginning of the struggle for independence in 1810. Celebrations include the famous “Grito de Dolores” (Cry of Dolores) by the president at the National Palace.
Civic ceremonies similar to the presidential celebration are held in all of the country’s central plazas, along with performances of folk music and dance, and historic sites are illuminated with the colors of the Mexican flag. Families also gather to enjoy typical Mexican dishes such as pozole, filled poblano peppers in nut sauce, mole, tostadas, and antojitos (snacks), accompanied by tequila or beer.
We invite you to celebrate the Independence Day of México holidays from September 12 to 16 with very Mexican activities and celebrations at all Sunset World hotels.
