International Clean Energy Day: A Step Towards Sustainable Future

The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed January 26th as the International Clean Energy Day to commemorate the anniversary of the founding of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in 2009. Its purpose is to accelerate the global transition to renewable and sustainable energy worldwide. We find ourselves at a crucial moment for the planet’s future, and each of us can make a significant contribution by protecting the environment and reducing our carbon footprint.

What are clean energies? They are renewable energy sources obtained from inexhaustible natural resources or those that regenerate constantly. Among them, we find solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, and other forms of energy. These energy sources do not generate greenhouse gas emissions or harmful atmospheric pollutants. In short, they are sustainable sources of energy that help reduce environmental impact and mitigate climate change.

For this reason, Sunset World Group has committed to environmental protection by implementing an Energy Efficiency Program in its six hotels in Cancun and the Riviera Maya. Since February 2020, all of Sunset World’s properties have been powered by clean and renewable energy produced in Mexican wind farms and geothermal plants, significantly reducing the company’s carbon footprint.

Additionally, the activity programs and gastronomic experiences in all hotels have recently been updated and expanded for the enjoyment of the whole family. At Sunset World Group, we always focus on providing the best vacation experiences for our members and guests, and now we do so with a commitment to the environment.

Celebrating International Clean Energy Day is an excellent opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of caring for our planet and contributing to the future of the environment. Will you join the cause and start making changes in your daily life towards cleaner and more sustainable energy?
Together, we can achieve a better future!
