Easy, Printable Travel Packing Checklist + 13 Best Tips

Traveling is exciting and fun. From the moment that the perfect vacation spot pops into your head to the planning process, it is an exciting journey. Part of the travel journey is packing. But even the most seasoned traveler can forget things, so we’ve compiled a brief list of tips for packing

Vacation Packing Tips and Checklist

Tip #1: Remember that traveling is temporary and should be about the actual trip itself rather than extensive wardrobe selections. Packing just a few outfits that you absolutely love and can match easily will make getting ready to enjoy your day a breeze.

Tip #2: Consider that all Sunset World resorts are located in a tropical climate with two seasons: hot and humid from May to November with the highest temperatures averaging 90º F; dry and cool from December to April with temperatures rarely dropping below 68º F.

Tip #3: Bring a light jacket or sweater—sometimes evening breezes off the water can be cool. It also rains in paradise.

Tip #4: Pack nice clothes for dinner. Most resorts have a dress code for their dinner restaurants.

Tip #5: Place your passport, air tickets, travel insurance documents, contact numbers and any other important information in a pouch or bag that’s easily accessible, and carry it with you on your flight. Once you’ve arrived at the resort, place these important documents in the room safe.

Tip #6: Keep a photocopy of your passport in a different location, such as purse or briefcase. Also, scan it and carry a copy in a laptop.

Tip #7: If you expect to arrive at the resort before the designated check-in time, pack your swimsuit, sunscreen, flip-flops or sandals and other beach gear in a carry-on bag. If your room isn’t ready when you arrive, at least you can still hit the beach or pool. The front desk will store your suitcases for you until you can check in. Check in at Sunset World Resorts is at 3:00 p.m.

Tip #8: Sunscreen with a high SPF is a necessity in tropical climates, a biodegradable kind is highly recommended. Consider bringing a hat or visor as well, and don’t forget sunglasses.

Tip #9: Don’t forget your phone/laptop/tablet chargers.

Tip #10: Pack an extra pair of contacts or glasses.

Tip #11: Put prescription medicines in your carry-on bag, in case your checked luggage is delayed.

Tip #12: If you want to stay connected to home or work, carry your laptop. Sunset World Resorts offer in-room wireless Internet access as well as Wi-Fi throughout the resort. Always carry your devices onboard your flights instead of packing them in your suitcase. See you soon!

Tip #13: A few things you don’t need to worry about packing are towels, irons or hair dryers, as these items are available at the resort.
